Cross Cultural Communication Skills
WORKING EFFECTIVELY IN INTERNATIONAL TEAMS
Globalization has led to the rapid connection of internationally based employees from all levels of multinational companies. Where once an employee might have been expected to primarily collaborate with colleagues from his own country, today many people are part of global networks connected with people scattered around the world. Yet most managers have little understanding of how local culture impacts global interaction. Even those who are culturally informed, travel extensively, and have lived abroad often have few strategies for dealing with the cross-cultural complexity that affects their team’s day-to-day effectiveness. The Cross Cultural Communication Program provides a new way forward, with vital insights for working effectively and sensitively with one’s counterparts in the new global marketplace.
WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM ADDRESS?
The essential value of the program is to provide a framework and lens for understanding the underlying reasons why colleagues from different international cultures behave in particular ways – and how they may perceive and react to your own culture. Being aware of ones own natural preferences and being open to understanding and appreciating differences is an essential first step. Even international “old hands” with many years of international experience have given feedback that this program generated significant “aha” moments for them.
Program Format
We have run the CONCHIUS Cross Cultural Communication program successfully thousands of times in both 1-Day and 2-Day formats. In the dynamic and highly participative training participants can acquire new skills and personal insights through an activity based learning process. The program includes Harrison Assessments report and models such as Culture Map and Hofstede are referenced as appropriate. It self-adapts to participants – and is particularly effective if team members from different geographies and cultures can join the same program.
